Montana Motor Carriers Association Logo

The Montana Motor Carriers Association has served as the voice for Montana's trucking industry since 1939. MMCA is a trade association dedicated to the furtherance of the trucking industry's goals and interests in Montana and the United States. Membership is a very diverse group comprised of trucking companies, passenger carriers, garbage haulers, construction & excavation companies, and companies providing products and services to the industry.

The Montana Motor Carriers Association (MMCA) is "Here to serve you!"

The Montana Motor Carriers Association takes a highly active role in legislation in Helena to ensure that the concerns of the trucking industry are addressed. The MMCA maintains good relations and open communication with all major entities related to transportation in Montana, including the Montana Department of Transportation (DOT), the Montana Highway Patrol, elected officials and legislators, the Department of Motor Vehicles, and more. The MMCA participates in legislative activity on the national level through frequent contact with the Montana Congressional Delegation and also through the American Trucking Associations.

The Montana Motor Carriers Association publishes a weekly news sheet called "On The Horizon," distributed to all members by e-mail or fax. They publish their "MCM News" newsletter on a monthly basis and "Roadwise Magazine" on an annual basis. The MMCA periodically schedules seminars on relevant issues. They also maintain the MMCA website with frequent updates on legislative issues along with direct e-mail and fax updates to members for urgent matters. The Allied Industry Directory is available to MMCA members and often published in the newsletter. It provides information on suppliers members rely on for their business. The MMCA also publishes a directory of all members.

The MMCA places high emphasis on safety in the trucking industry. The MMCA's Safety Management Maintenance Technology Council (SMMTC) meets bimonthly and hosts an annual Truck Driving Championship in Billings, Montana on the second Saturday of June. The SMMTC also runs the MCM Safety Trailer with labeled "no-zone" for educational purposes. Membership for the SMMTC is $40 annually.

The Montana Motor Carriers Association holds an annual convention in late summer. The MMCA keeps a supplied inventory of items frequently needed by its members in the trucking industry. They also offer safety record checks for the state of Montana.

The MMCA provides discounts on Continental Owner Operations, Ltd.; Hire Right Drug and Alcohol Testing and Employee Screening; Telecommunications services; and UPS services. They also offer greatly discounted courses through their MMCA Online Institute, in an agreement between the MMCA and the U.S. Department of Transportation's Transportation Safety Institute (DOT/TSI). Course categories include Management, Driver, HAZMAT, OSHA, Transportation, and Safety and Health. Completers of the course will receive an official Transportation Safety Institute Certificate.
